Eilidh McKay

Eilidh was born in Aberdeen and raised in Sheffield, where she completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry with a year in industry at GSK. During this time, Eilidh completed a master’s project or Dr. Benjamine Partridge entitled ‘Synthesis of Borylated Heterocycles’ for their use as medicinal chemistry building blocks. Between this and her placement year, Eilidh discovered a keen interest for medicinal chemistry and the drug discovery process, later undertaking a PhD on the GSK/University of Strathclyde collaborative programme in October 2022. Eilidh now works on methods for synthesising homogenous antibody-drug conjugates, a rapidly developing class of biological therapeutic. Eilidh is currently partway through a three month placement in the Burley group and exploring Scotlands’ highland walks, and is enjoying feeding carrots to the highland cows.
