Craggan 2026
Another annual team building trip! This year in Craggan, Creagan a’Chaise was easily defeated despite the cold wind! The Burley group went back to a Craggan classic, River Spey Canoeing. New project ideas were shared along with the traditional Craggan Wheel.
Craggan 2025
Another edition of our famous yearly team trip! This year in Craggan, hiking up Schiehallion and finally testing out laser tag. For team research work, team members prepared 3 minute thesis presentations and collaboration ideas.
Craggan 2024
Another year, another team building trip! This year in Craggan, the great Scottish rain did not prevent us from hiking to the summit of Geal-charn Mor! For the first time in Burley group history, the team tried paintball, which ended up with an overwhelming win for the Blue team! For team research work, the old tradition of the “Craggan Wheel” was modified in a way that the PhD students prepared 3 minute thesis presentations and collaboration ideas on the research of the person that comes after them on the wheel. Postdocs presented their plan for a small project on a 20K budget.
Craggan 2023
Another edition of the team building trip! This year in Craggan, hiking and kayaking were once again on the menu, with a new format of team research work: the grant proposal challenge!
Christmas day out 2022
Each year (providing international pandemic crisis allows it), the group goes out for a Christmas lunch/dinner in December. Glasgow has a rather large selection of pubs and the Christmas day out is usually the perfect occasion to make the most of what the city has to offer…
Craggan 2022
Another yearly tradition of the Burley group is the trip to the highlands! In the summer, the team gathers in the Scottish highlands for a few days. On the menu is a mix of outdoor activities, food, drinks and sharing of chemistry ideas for some team bonding.
