Aidan grew up in Edinburgh and made the long journey to the University of Glasgow for his MSci, completed in 2019, spending a year at Utrecht University making antimicrobialpeptides for Prof. Nathaniel Martin in the process. His final year project involved both Dr. David France and PROTACs. After a well-timed internship growing crystals at the University of Lisbon in late 2019, he moved to Leeds for his PhD, under the supervision of Profs. Robin Bon and Andy Wilson, completed in 2024. This research involved making weird and wonderful chemical probes for TRPC1/4/5 ion channels. Aidan has recently returned to the motherland and has started working on antibody-drug conjugates with the Burley group, in collaboration with people spread across Chemistry, SIBPS, and GSK.

Personal Facts

Aidan enjoys drinking tap water and doing the big shop after 4pm on a Sunday, even if he can no longer get any deals on booze. He will order the darkest beer in any pub he finds himself.
